In this blogpost, I will guide you through the process of installing JDK 9 on Windows 10 Operating System. You will learn to download Java 9 on Windows 10 64 bit operating system.

Step 1: Download JDK 9 or Java 9 from jdk.java.net << Click Here

Open Mozilla or Google Chrome Browser – (You can Download Google Chrome Browser Here)

  1. Type “Oracle java jdk 9 download in the search box and click search.
  2. Choose the Second option from the search results Java SE Development Kit 9 – Downloads – Oracle.

Download JDK 9 on Windows 10 64

4. You would be redirected to Oracle Java SE Development Kit 9 Downloads Page.

5. Review and Accept the License Agreement for Java SE Development Kit 9 or JDK 9.

6. Now Scroll Down and choose the Java Platform Standard Edition 9 for Windows 64 bit option (jdk-9_windows-x64_bin.exe)

Step 2: Installing Java SE Development Kit 9 on you Windows 10 Computer

  1. Go to your Downloads folder and find the recently downloaded JDK 9 installer or setup file
  2. Right-Click on the JDK 9 Setup file and Run as Administrator.

 Follow the images to Install JDK 9 on Windows 10 64-bit Operating System.

  1. Setup will Run
  2. Click Next on these two JDK 9 Setup Screen.
  3. JDK 9 Setup Will start to install all the necessary files
  4. Click Next on Custom Setup Tab
  5. Java 9 Setup will be in Progress. Wait till it is Completed
  6. JDK 9 Setup is now Completed Click Close

 Step 3: Checking JDK 9 was installed correctly on Windows 10 Machine

  1. Go to Windows Search and type “cmd”
  2. In your terminal type “javac”
  3. If you get the following error when you type javac in your terminal >> “‘javac’ is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.”
  4. You would need to setup the Java Path in Windows 10

Step 4:  Setting Up Path for JDK 9 on Windows 10 Operating Machine

  1. Go to Local Disc (C:) > Program Files > Java > jdk-9 > bin
  2. Copy the JDK 9 Path Address

      3. Now Go to Windows Search > Type “This PC” > Right Click > Choose Properties

4. Go to Advance System Settings and Choose “Environment Variables”

5. On “Environment Variables” Window Click “Edit

6. On “Edit Environment Variable” Window Click “New”

7. Now Paste your JDK 9 path address that you had copied earlier in Step 4.2

8. After you paste JDK 9 path address >> Click OK >> Again Click Ok >> Again Click Ok

Step 5: Setting Up JDK 9 Home Variable

  1. Go to Advance System Settings and Choose “Environment Variables”
  2. On “Environment Variables” Window Click “New”
  3. For Variable name – Type “JAVA_HOME”
  4. For Variable value – Paste JDK 9 path address (*** Not the bin address)
  5. After you paste JDK 9 path address >> Click OK >> Again Click Ok >> Again Click Ok

Step 6: Checking Again JDK 9 was installed correctly on Windows 10 Machine

  1. Go to Windows Search and type “cmd”
  2. In your terminal type “java -version”
  3. It should Look Like this now, without any error message

  1. In your terminal type “javac” It should look like this now. JDK 9 Installed Successfully on Windows 10 64-bit Operating System .
