We will be using Unibeast to create are bootable USB Drive for installing macOS High Sierra on Hackintosh and Multibeast to patch the required Kexts and Bootloders for our Hackintosh.
The reason I choose this method because, using Unibeast and Multibeast is very straight forward and simple. Especially if you are beginner I mean if you’re going to install macOS High Sierra on Hackintosh for the first time.

Precautions to Take Before Installing macOS High Sierra on Hackintosh.
ALERT: Before we start first I need to warn you about few things. For installing macOS High Sierra on Hackintosh, make sure that your hardware is Mac OS X compatible. I mean the CPU, Motherboard, Graphics Card and especially take precaution on the Wi-Fi and the Bluetooth because not all Wi-Fi or Bluetooth cards or adapters are Mac OS compatible.
Also, before installing macOS High Sierra on Hackintosh make a full backup of your PC or Hackintosh (in case you are clean installing Mac OS Sierra). This installing method requires a full disk format or certain sections, that means all files will be deleted on the disk on which you are going to macOS High Sierra on Hackintosh.
Let’s Start the Step by Step Process to Install macOS Sierra on Hackintosh.
Step 1: Create Bootable USB Drive For Installing macOS High Sierra on Hackintosh.
Let’s start to create the boot USB for macOS High Sierra. You will need access to Mac OS that can be a MacBook or some other Apple computer or PC running Mac OS. If you don’t have access to some Apple computer or PC which is running Mac OS X then you can do it on Windows System using Virtual Machine. (Read This Article : How to Install MAC OS 10.12 Sierra on Windows PC using VMware Workstation)
You will need the following in order to create your boot USB:
- 16 Gb USB or more.
- Download macOS High Sierra install file from the App Store.
- Download the Unibeast
- Download Multibeast.
- If you are using Nvidia Maxell or Pascal Graphics card, then you need to download an Nvidia Web Drivers.
- If you are using any USB Wi-Fi then you will need to download the drivers from the manufacturer website
Before you start with creating the USB Installer, you need to erase the USB.
Now insert the USB and go to spotlight search and search for Disk Utility.
When in Disk Utility select your USB Drive and go to the Erase Tab now as USB
Name the USB as USB and for format select Mac OS Extended Journaled. If Disk Utility has Scheme option, then select GUID Partition Map. Okay now press the Erase button.
Erase the USB after the USB is erased close Disk Utility and open the Unibeast.
Now in Unibeast go ahead and Select Continue >> Continue >> Continue >> Continue >> Agree
Select your USB and Continue
Select High Sierra and Continue
Now in the Bootloader Configuration you will need to select the bootloader. If you are using newer UEFI system, then select the UEFI Boot Mode. If you are using Legacy system or older computer then select the Legacy Boot Mode and click Continue.
In the Graphics Configuration, if you are using older 80 Radeon 4000 series then select the Inject ATI option. If your graphic card is newer, then skip this step. If you are using older Nvidia
graphics like 8000 9000 200 400 and some 600 series then we can check Inject NVIDIA option.
If your graphic card is newer like Maxwell or Pascal series, then skip the step. (I am using GTX 970 and GTX 980 Ti, therefore will not check-off anything on this Tab. We will manually install our graphics drivers.)
Now select Continue >>Continue
Enter your Password and press Enter. Creating the USB installer takes about five to twenty minutes depending on the speed of your USB drive.
After creating the USB installer’ is finished, you can close Unibeast tool.
Now you will create a new folder on your desktop and name it Post-install. In this folder you will place the Multibeast tool, Nvidia Web Driver and your USB Wi-Fi adapter drivers (if you are using USB Wi-Fi). You will copy this folder into the USB installer.
I do this because after installing the Mac OS I will have fast and easy access to the post installation tools.
Okay now let’s move on the installing process of macOS High Sierra on SSD or your Drive.
Step 2: Installing macOS High Sierra Hackintosh on SSD.
Insert the USB installer’ into the USB 2.0 Port and Start your PC. The USB 2.0 port is recommended because in some cases the
USB 3.0 port may not work during installation process. If the USB 3.0 port is working, then feel free to use it. (Give it a try)
Now during the PC is starting up keep pressing the BIOS or UEFI Menu button to access the BIOS or UEFI Menu. For most Motherboards, the BIOS or UEFI Menu is placed on the DELETE button on the keyboard.
Now when in your BIOS or UEFI Menu, first you will need to make a few changes.
For the BIOS there’s just a couple things that we need to Check
1. First and Foremost, go over to the Save and Exit Tab and Load Optimize Defaults that’s the first thing we want to do.
- Next we want to go over to the VT-d and Disable it.
3. Enable XHCI Hand-off
4. Change the Windows 8/10 Features to Other OS
5. Change Device ROM Priority to UEFI Only
6. On Peripherals Tab Change Super IO Config to Disabled
7. If you are using an older Legacy System, then maybe you will need to disable the USB 3.0
8. Save & Exit Setup
Now during reboot keep pressing the Boot Menu button to access in the boot menu. In the most of cases the boot menu button is placed on the F12 button on the keyboard.
Now when you are in the Boot Menu select the USB with Mac OS High Sierra and press Enter. If you are installing Mac OS on you UEFI system, then select the UEFI boot USB.
Now in the Clover Boot Manager if you need to add some additional Boot Args then go in Options and select Boot Args.
To edit the Boot Args press ENTER to save the Boot Args.
Press ENTER and to go back to Clover Boot Manager press the Escape button.
Select the Boot OS X Install from Install macOS High Sierra and press Enter to boot into the Installer
First inside the macOS High Sierra installer select your language and click on arrow to Continue
Now the macOS High Sierra will take you to the macOS High Sierra utilities menu.
First before installing the macOS High Sierra you will need to Erase your disk. Select the Disk Utility and Press the Continue Button.
Now in Disk Utility select the disk were you going to install the macOS High Sierra Hackintosh and go to the Erase Tab.
For disk Name you can use any name and format you can choose between Mac OS Extended Journaled or APFS (Apple File System)
Note: If you are using newer, hardware then you can choose APFS but also, can use Mac OS Extended Journaled. If you are using legacy hardware or older hardware, then it’s recommended to use the Mac OS Extended Journaled.
Now to erase the disk just Press Erase button.
After the disk is erased, close Disk Utility and go back into the macOS Utilities Menu. In the macOS Utilities menu select Install macOS and press the Continue button.
Select Continue >> Agree >> Agree
Select the disk were you going to install to install macOS High Sierra and press the Install button.
Note: During installation process the Mac OS will reboot several Times. For most cases the installing will continue automatically but if not then in the Clover Menu you will need to select the disk were you going to install the macOS High Sierra hackintosh manually.
After installing the macOS High Sierra, continue with personal settings like Language, Keyboard and other settings like creating the computer account or connecting to your Wi-Fi and so on.
Step 3: Post Installation Process After Installing macOS High Sierra Hackintosh on SSD.
Okay now let’s move on the post installation process. After you Boot in Mac OS High Sierra, you would need to copy the Post-install folder from the USB on the desktop. Also, after you copy the Post-install folder on desktop you can eject the USB and remove the USB from the PC.
First, you’ll need to run the Multibeast application. Using Multibeast you will need to install the Boot loader and other basic drivers.
Now in Multibeast first select the Bootloaders. If your system is UEFI then select the Clover UEFI Boot Mode. If your system is legacy or some older PC then use the Clover Legacy Boot Mode.
Now select the drivers tab in Drivers under Audio select you’re a Audio chipset.
Under Misc select the FakeSMC. The FakeSMC is very important because without FakeSMC the Mac OS X on a PC will not boot and will not work.
Under Network select your internet LAN driver
Under USB you can select the USB drivers in case the USB 3.0 port does not working.
After selecting your personal drivers go to Customize Tab. In Customize you will need to select your graphic cardsupport and the system definitions. If you are Nvidia maxell or Pascal user then select the Nvidia Web Drivers Boot Flag and the Nvidia Graphics Fixup.
After selecting the graphic card support select the System Definitions. System definitions are very important, here you need to choose proper system definitions for example I’m using Intel Haswell i5 4460 CPU and the best match system definitions are iMac 14,2. For the Skylake system definitions are iMac 17,1 and the Kabylake system definitions are iMac 18,2.
Also, here is the detailed list with all System Definitions:
Now to install the bootloader and the basic drivers go to the Build tab in the Build tab select the disk where the Mac OS High Sierra is installed. Click the Install button now enter your Password and press Enter.
After installing the Bootloader and the basic drivers using Multibeast, we can continue with installing the other drivers. If you are a Nvidia Maxwell or Pascal user then you will need to install the Nvidia Graphic Web driver for Mac. After installing the Nvidia Web Drivers you can Restart your Hackintosh.
If you have some additional drivers, then feel free to install the drivers. For example, Install the USB Wi-Fi drivers if you are using USB Wi-Fi Plug.
After installing all drivers, you can Restart your Hackintosh. In macOS High Sierra you’ll need to enable the Audio. To enable the Audio, go into the System Preferences and select Sound.
In Sound, under Sound Effects select Internal Speakers or in some cases Line Out.
Under Output select Internal Speakers or Line Out in some cases.
Under Input select your Microphone and finally the Mac OS High Sierra is ready to use.
Now you can continue with installing your favorite apps and software’s. You can also do your personal customization and you can enjoy all features of macOS High Sierra.
