Step By Step Process To Install Hackintosh macOS Mojave
Hey what’s up guys this is techhowdy with another tutorial on Hackintosh Install Process for macOS 10.14. In this blog post I am going to show you Step By Step Process to install Hackintosh macOS Mojave on your Computer.
Before I start first with the process of installing Hackintosh macOS Mojave, I must say that, this not the final release of macOS Mojave. We will be installing the Developer version of macOS Mojave on Our Computer. This also means, some of the feature may not work due to bugs. I would recommend to install hackintosh Mojave on a separate SSD or Hard Drive, so that you can test it before you make a final install on your working Hackintosh.
So without wasting any further time lets start to install Hackintosh macOS Mojave on your Computer.
Download Required Files
Step 1: Create Bootable USB Installer for Hackintosh macOS Mojave
As we always start with creating the bootable USB Installer for hackintosh installation, we will do the same here as well. To create bootable USB Flash Drive to install Hackintosh macOS Mojave you will need access to a Mac Computer as we need to download macOS Mojave. You would need the USB Flash Drive to be at least 16 gigs or more for this installation.
Now, to download macOS Mojave you need to download macOS Developer Beta Access Utility tool, which will help you download the developer version of Mojave. (You can find the Download link under Required Files Section.)
Run the tool, and Install the macOS Developer tool Utility on your computer. Once you have installed the tool, it will directly take you to the link to download macOS Mojave.
Before you start creating the USB installer for Hackintosh macOS Mojave, you would need to erase the USB Flash Drive. To erase you USB Flash drive, insert your USB drive and open Disk Utility.
- Click on your USB Flash Drive and Click Erase.
- For USB name leave it as Untitled
- For Format, select MacOS Extended (Journaled)
- For Scheme select GUID Partition Map.
- Click on the Erase button to Erase the USB.
- Once disk is Erased, Close Disk Utility.
After the USB Flash Drive is erased, close Disk utility and Open Terminal. Now in terminal to star creating the USB installer for Hackintosh macOS Mojave, you would need to use the following terminal command.
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Mojave\ Beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia –volume /Volumes/Untitled —applicationpath/Applications/Install\macOS\ 10.14\ Beta.app —nointeraction
If the first command fails try using this second command in terminal to create USB installer for Hackintosh Mojave.
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Mojave\ Beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia –volume /Volumes/USB –applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\ 10.14\ Beta.app
The terminal will now ask you to enter your password in order to start the process. Enter your password and hit Enter, but please note the terminal will not show what characters you type as it will be invisible or hidden.
Now the terminal will confirm if you want to start the process. Enter the letter “Y” and hit Enter.
Now terminal start the process of creating the USB Installer. Depending on the speed of your computer, terminal would take approximately 15-45 minutes to finish the process. Therefore, go make yourself a coffee.
Step 2: Install Clover Bootloader on Hackintosh macOS Mojave USB Installer
Go ahead and open the Clover Bootloader Application. and follow these steps. You would need this application to install the bootloader for hackintosh.
If you get the Error, that Clover Cannot be opened as the developer is unknown. Do the Following, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy and Choose Open Anyway.
- So click Continue for the first two windows as this is bunch of info about the app. If you have time go ahead review it and then click continue.
- On the Destination Select tab, click on the option Change Install Location.
- Select the USB Flash Drive that you just created for macOS Hackintosh Mojave Update using Terminal. After Select the Flash Drive click Continue.
- Now on the Installation Type Tab Click on the Customize option. Select the option Install for UEFI booting only.
- Click on the Dropdown for Drivers64UEFI and Select the following options:
- AppleImageCodec-64.UEFI
- AppleKeyAggregator-64.UEFI
- AppleUITheme-64.UEFI
- DataHubDxe-64.UEFI
- FirmwareVolume-64.UEFI
- FSInject-64.UEFI
- SMCHelper-64.UEFI
- VboxHfs-64.UEFI
- Apfs
- OsxAptioFix2Drv-64
- PartitionDxe-64
- Now after Selecting all these options click Install.
- Clover Bootloader will ask you to enter your password to proceed.
- Now Clover will start installing the Bootloader. Once its completed, you can close clover bootloader.
Step 3: Copying Files to EFI partition on Hackintosh macOS Mojave USB Installer
- Go to Finder and open mounted EFI. Now open the folder EFI > Clover > drivers64.
- Copy the provided apfs.efi file in drivers64 folder.
- Now go back to the Clover Folder and open the drivers64UEFI Folder.
- Now copy the apfs.efi file in drivers64UEFI folder also. You will be warned saying the file already exists. Just click Replace and proceed.
- Now go back to the Clover folder and open the kexts folder.
- Open the Other Folder in kexts.
- Copy the provided kexts in the Other folder. If you are a Nvidia or Pascal Graphic user then, copy these two kexts NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext and Lilu.kext.
- If you require another kext you can add them here.
- Now go back to Clover folder and Delete config.plist file and Paste the config.plist files that is provided in required files section.
Step 4: Editing the config.plist file on Hackintosh macOS Mojave USB Installer
- Once you have copied the config.plist file to the Clover folder, right-click on it and open it with Clover Configurator.
- In Clover Configurator, under Sections select SMBIOS. Here in SMBIOS you need to select your System Definitions. Select the System definitions that best macth your CPU. For example – I am using Skylake 6700K processor, therefore I will choose iMac17,1 – Intel Core i7-6700K @ 4.00 GHz.
- If you are an Nvidia or Pascal user, go to System Parameters and check-off the option NvidiaWeb.
Step 5: Configure BIOS Settings to install Hackintosh macOS Mojave
First you need to Insert the USB installer’ into the USB 2.0 Port and Start your PC. The USB 2.0 port is recommended because in some cases the USB 3.0 Port may not work during installation process. If the USB 3.0 port is working, then feel free to use it. (Give it a try)
Now during the PC is starting up keep pressing the BIOS or UEFI Menu button to access the BIOS or UEFI Menu. For most Motherboards, the BIOS or UEFI Menu is placed on the DELETE button on the keyboard. (Please note your BIOS interface would look different but the options will be same in most cases)
You would not need to do any changes if you already have Hackintosh System installed, as you must have configured the BIOS settings, when you installed it. But, it’s always good to double check your settings to avoid any install failures as we proceed.
Here is the recommended settings for BIO incase you are installing macOS Hackintosh Mojave for the first time.
1. First and Foremost, go over to the Advanced Mode(F7) Tab located at the bottom and then go to the Exit Tab.
2. Load Optimize Defaults that’s the first thing we want to do.
3. Go to Advanced Tab and click on CPU Configuration\CPI – Power Management Control and then set CFG Lock to Disabled.
4. Go to Advanced Tab and click on System Agent (SA) Configuration and then set VT-d to Disabled.
5. Go to Boot Tab and make sure under Boot Option Priorities you have selected the USB that you just created to install Hackintosh macOS Mojave. (Your USB name may be different , based on the Manufacturer or Brand).

6. Now go to EXIT and click on Save Changes & Exit. When the confirmation popup appears click OK.
Step 6: Installing Hackintosh macOS Mojave on SSD
- Now your System Will Reboot and the System will directly boot into the USB Drive. Incase you get the option to Select your boot drive, just Select the plugged-in Flash Drive.

- When you get the Clover Boot manager Screen, select “Boot macOS Install from Install macOS 10.14 Beta“

- Now you should see the apple logo and the process bar.(Might take upto 5 minutes for the next screen to appear.)
- Now Select your preferred language for Installing Hackintosh macOS Mojave. Click on the arrow to continue.


- Now before you install macOS Mojave, you would need to erase your disk. Therefor, select Disk Utility and Click Continue.
- In Disk Utility Select the Disk where you want to install Hackintosh macOS Mojave.
- Now click on the Erase button.
- For Disk Name, you can choose any name.
- For Format choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
- For Scheme choose GUID Partition Map.
- Click the Erase button.
- After the Disk has been erased, close the Disk utility and go back to the macOS Utilities Menu.

Note: If you are using newer, hardware then you can choose APFS but also, can use Mac OS Extended Journaled. If you are using legacy hardware or older hardware, then it’s recommended to use the Mac OS Extended Journaled.
- In the macOS Utilities Menu select Install macOS and click Continue.

- On next Screen Click Continue.

- Click Agree > Agree

- Here Select the Disk where you want to install macOS Mojave and click on the Install button.


Note: During installation process the Mac OS will reboot several Times. For most cases the installing will continue automatically but if not then in the Clover Menu you will need to select the disk were you going to install the macOS High Sierra hackintosh manually.

- After installing the macOS Mojave, continue with personal settings like Language, Keyboard and other settings like creating the computer account or connecting to your Wi-Fi and so on.


Step 7: Post Installation Process for macOS Hackintosh Mojave
The Post-Installation process will look very familiar to you as you have done these steps when you created the USB installer for Hackintosh Mojave 10.14.

- Open Clover Bootloader and click Continue for the first two windows as this is bunch of info about the app. If you have time go ahead review it and then click continue.
- On the Destination Select tab, click on the option Change Install Location.
- Select the SSD Drive where you just installed macOS Hackintosh Mojave. After you Select the SSD Drive click Continue.
- Now on the Installation Type Tab Click on the Customize option. Select the option UEFI.only and Target.ESP
- Click on the Dropdown for Drivers64UEFI and Select the following options:
- AppleImageCodec-64.UEFI
- AppleKeyAggregator-64.UEFI
- AppleUITheme-64.UEFI
- DataHubDxe-64.UEFI
- FirmwareVolume-64.UEFI
- FSInject-64.UEFI
- SMCHelper-64.UEFI
- VboxHfs-64.UEFI
- Apfs
- OsxAptioFix2Drv-64
- PartitionDxe-64
- Now after Selecting all these options click Install.
- Clover Bootloader will ask you to enter your password to proceed.
- Now Clover will start installing the Bootloader. Once its completed, you can close clover bootloader.
- Once Clover Bootloader is installed on your SSD Drive, you should see the EFI partition on your Desktop. Go ahead and click on the EFI partition and open it.
- Now open the folder EFI > Clover > drivers64.
- Copy the provided apfs.efi file in drivers64 folder.
- Now go back to the Clover Folder and open the drivers64UEFI Folder.
- Now copy the apfs.efi file in drivers64UEFI folder also. You will be warned saying the file already exists. Just click Replace and proceed.
- Now go back to the Clover folder and open the kexts folder.
- Open the Other Folder in kexts.
- Copy the provided kexts in the Other folder. If you are a Nvidia or Pascal Graphic user then, copy these two kexts NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext and Lilu.kext.
- Copy the VoodooHDA.kext to the Other Folder.
- If you require another kext you can add them here.
- Now go to the Clover folder and Delete config.plist file and Paste the config.plist files that you previously created in the USB EFI Folder.
- Now you can close the EFI partition but do not eject it.
- Go and open the provided VoodooHDA 2.9.0 Clover-V11.pkg installer.
- Click Continue for Introduction, Read Me and License tab and then Agree.
- For the Destination Select your Hackintosh Mojave SSD Drive.
- Select the Customize button and expand the VoodooHDA 2.9.0 Clover UEFI/ESP dropdown option.
- Select the option VoodooHDA macOS High Sierra and click on the Install button.
- Enter your password and click Install Software.
Step 8: Installing Graphic Drivers for macOS Hackintosh Mojave
- Run the Web Driver File for Nvidia Graphic Cards.
- If you get an error that the web driver is not compatible with your version of High Sierra, then download the latest version from here.
- After installing the Nvidia Web Drivers you can Restart your Hackintosh. (Note: When installing, Make sure the Destination you install Graphic Drivers on, is your Macintosh HD and not the USB. Also, before Restarting Eject your USB from your PC.)
- If you have some additional drivers, then feel free to install the drivers. For example, Install the USB Wi-Fi drivers if you are using USB Wi-Fi Plug.
- After installing all drivers, you can Restart your Hackintosh. In macOS High Sierra you’ll need to enable the Audio. To enable the Audio, go into the System Preferences and select Sound.
In Sound, under Sound Effects select your Audio source.
Under Output select Internal Speakers or Line Out in some cases.(If you are using speakers)
Under Input select your Microphone and finally the Hackintosh MacOS Mojave is ready to use.

Got back to System preferences and open VoodoHDA.In the VodooHDA panel you have to select the right source. One option is for the HDMI Audio and the other is for speakers. If you are using speakers choose Line-out for option 1 and and for option 2 select the option as shown in the image. Play-around with it, to get your device working.


***Tip : You can use use macOS High Sierra drivers for you Wi-Fi Dongal incase you are using one.
Now you can continue with installing your favorite apps and software’s. You can also do your personal customization and you can enjoy all features of macOS Hackintosh Mojave.
